Senior Software Engineering Manager

About the Job:

We are seeking a versatile and experienced engineering manager to coordinate the day-to-day operations of several software development teams at iZotope. We have a diverse business, spanning both consumer and professional products in the audio industry, as well as technology licensing beyond the audio industry.

This role will require daily interaction with four or five independent teams working on projects, and resources need to be reassigned occasionally to respond to urgent third-party licensing requests. This tends to require smart but fluid management decisions on an ongoing basis. Note that we have recently transitioned all of our development to an agile process.

The ideal applicant will thrive in a small to medium sized business environment, where our process for various aspects of our operations is still emerging as necessary. This role will require direct management of 10+ software engineers, as well as daily interaction with DSP researchers, QA engineers, product specialists and product management.

Responsibilities will include:

• Day-to-day management of 10+ software engineers working on several agile-based projects
• Oversight of technical issues, ensuring that our team of software engineers is working elegantly and efficiently
• Long-term planning for iZotope's engineering team and codebase. This includes oversight of long term redesign efforts. Good judgement is essential here!

Skills required:

• Experience with C++, especially in an audio processing context. Very little day-to-day coding will be required for the job, but it might be a good idea to do more coding at first to get some familiarity with our codebase.
• Management experience is a must, ideally in an environment similar to the one described above (several teams working in parallel, frequent consideration of resourcing across teams)
• Bachelor level (or equivalent) degree

Time commitment:

This position is full-time with about 40 hours per week and requires the candidate to be able to work at our Cambridge, MA office. Competitive salary, bonus, benefits, and 401(k) will be offered to the appropriate candidate.
